Junior Developer - Social Platform
San Francisco, SF

You’re an engineer seeking a key role on an agile team that is building an exciting product in a rapidly growing start-up. Our CTO is identifying sharp, smart Developers with solid skills who are eager to diverse their experence and learn new technologies to build a an agile team. We are engineering a complete soup to nuts solution which means going several steps beyond what people normally expect when solving the commerce problem. We need generalists who are as comfortable debugging CSS and Javascript as they are optimizing page load times or writing a new data service. On this team, you will be able to get your hands dirty with full stack development. Beyond being technical stars, we want our engineers to be able to make great product decisions, design (and build!) elegant user interfaces, and take a strong leadership role.

Responsibilities

  • Code using primarily Java & Ruby, HTML/CSS, and JQuery
  • Work closely with engineers, product management, and designers
  • Work on the scalability, resilience, and efficiency of backend components
  • Build storage systems, libraries, and frameworks that let our product grow
  • Work in a team-oriented environment
  • Eagerness to be part of a software development process that values continuous improvement, team collaboration, engineering excellence


Qualifications & Desired Skills

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of web standards and modern client-side engineering using JavaScript, CSS & HTML
  • Experience or interest in distributed network systems
  • Demonstrated open-source contribution
  • Experience with pair programming and a predilection toward aggressive refactoring
  • Previous success in a performance-critical environment is a plus
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies
  • Entrepreneurial spirit
