JOB DESCRIPTION
PLEASE NOTE: This position has been created to build sustainable supply and demand planning processes at DuBois Chemicals, Inc.  The Supply and Demand Planning Manager will be asked initially to create comprehensive supply and demand plans for the overall business using best practices learned from previous assignments.
 
Summary/Objective
The Supply and Demand Planning Manager is responsible for managing long-term production and inventory stocking plans through interactions with the Sales, Finance, and Supply Chain teams (including Sourcing, Planning, Manufacturing, Inventory Control, and Logistics), and then developing and implementing monthly supply and demand forecasts at both the detail and the aggregate levels across the business.  The Supply and Demand Planning Manager will work with the Logistics team to develop and maintain the overall inventory stocking plan for DuBois and will update the inventory stocking plan as the company continues to acquire new businesses.  The Supply and Demand Planning Manager will ensure data integrity and quality by regularly reviewing data, identifying forecast variance exceptions and their root causes, and working with a cross-functional team to implement processes to correct the forecast variance exceptions and to minimize their impact.  Measurements such as percent improvement of aggregate forecast accuracy, days on hand inventory of raw materials, finished goods, and WIP, inventory turns, and customer service levels are all metrics to which the Supply and Demand Planning manager will be accountable.
 
Primary Functions
In summary, the Supply and Demand Planning Manager will:
  1. Develop long-term production and inventory stocking plans (annually).
  2. Develop and implement supply and demand forecasts in Microsoft AX365 (monthly).
  3. Monitor forecast accuracy on an aggregate level and by manufacturing / purchasing location, and provide feedback to the Sales and Marketing teams on forecast directions and market trends through regular Integrated Business Management (IBM) updates (monthly).
  4. Track, investigate, and resolve forecast variance issues through root cause analysis and implementing solutions via leading a cross-functional team (daily).
  5. Maintain, revise, and drive the inventory stocking plan across the business, working with the Logistics and Sourcing departments to ensure that both finished products and raw materials are maintained at the right levels in the appropriate locations, both nationally and internationally (daily monitoring, weekly or monthly reporting, and revisions as needed).
  6. Report various key performance indicators, such as
    1. Forecast accuracy (as described above), and percent improvement of aggregate forecast accuracy
    2. Days on hand inventory
    3. Inventory turns
    4. On time and complete shipments
 
 
Supervisory Responsibility
This position will expand over time to have direct reports, but initially it will not be the case.
 
Travel
This role can include up to 15% travel.
  
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements/Certifications
  1. Bachelor degree in areas including Marketing, Strategic Planning, Business Management, Statistics, Engineering, or Supply Chain Management.
  2. 3-5 years of supply chain experience.
  3. 2-3 years of demand and/or supply planning experience.
  4. Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX or similar ERP system.
  5. Good numeracy skills and attention to detail.
  6. Advanced Excel skills and literacy are necessary to monitor and track various key performance indicators.
  7. Lean / Six Sigma / APICS certifications a plus.
