Job Title:            CAD Operator Plumbing & Piping

SUMMARY:  The CAD Operator conceptualizes design or design assist of plumbing & piping systems. This position closely collaborates with Fabrication, Project Management and Field Teams to ensure they are provided relevant and timely information in order to: improve accuracy; reduce waste, and increase productivity throughout the project.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
  • Preparing clear, complete, and accurate: layouts, as-builts, detail drawings, assembly drawings, sketches and diagrams using CAD equipment and software
  • Providing oversight, direction, and support to and Project Management and Field Teams for integrating CAD standards and procedures and to coordinate CAD issues with projects
  • Identifying conflicting design requirements, suitability of materials, and difficult coordination requirements
  • Leading and participating in coordination meetings
  • Revising, editing, and updating changes to drawings based on revised sketches, notes, drawings, and field review
  • Identifying, troubleshooting/problem solving on constructability/design issues and suggesting solutions
  • Work with Project Management and Field Teams to facilitate the production and/or early release of prefabricated components and long lead items
  • Act as organizational expert by, recommending HPE CAD Model standards, providing technical support to others as needed, utilizing other departments to accomplish tasks, and providing strategic direction on emerging technology and value-added solutions
  • Interpreting drawings and specifications
  • Meeting or beating estimated CAD hours, and assisting CAD Manager in estimating CAD hours for projects
  • Ensure safety is a priority within all designs
  • Other job duties as assigned
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS  & ABILITIES:
  • Working knowledge of computer programs and web-based applications including: AutoDesk, AutoCad, Fabrication CAD MEP, Navisworks, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • The ability to proactively communicate, effectively prioritize multiple tasks, think systematically to problem solve and evaluate best practices for efficiency and productivity
 
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
  • 3+ years in commercial Plumbing detailing with working knowledge of  Working knowledge of Plumbing systems and all associated codes or
  • 10+ years field experience in commercial Plumbing
  • Construction estimating, Preconstruction services/design build/engineering, LEED (material, equipment), or Construction contracts , specifications and relevant construction documents experience a plus
