Job Title: Content Manager
Reports To: Web Department Manager
We are a global nonprofit seeking an experienced content manager to oversee content for a multi-language website and digital communications. This person will work with a team to produce engaging content that meets the needs of multiple audiences and advances the mission of the organization. Candidate must have excellent web writing skills and hands-on experience with key aspects of content strategy and management for consumer-facing websites, including content development, information architecture, taxonomies, SEO, document management, and content management systems (CMS). The ideal candidate will be equal parts creative and technical, with strong leadership and team-building skills. •BA/BS or master’s in communications, journalism or related field
•8-10 years’ experience with web content/publishing
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
•Strong editorial skills and proven ability to write effectively for the web and digital forms
•Understanding of how users interact with digital content and how to create great user experiences from a content perspective, including imagery and multimedia.
•Extensive experience structuring and producing web content for content management systems, including information architecture, search optimization,
•Ability to maintain an effective web content strategy and standards through daily management of full content lifecycle
•Familiarity with information architecture, web design and web development, including knowledge of HTML, scripting, authentication, etc.
•Understanding of how to work with print, social, user-generated and other types of content
•Proven project management abilities, a demonstrated collaborative approach and attention to detail
•Experience managing people highly preferred
•Excellent interpersonal, negotiating and listening skills
•Familiarity with Drupal and Agile methodology helpful
•Produce clear, compelling, user-focused digital content that expresses the brand and advances the strategic objectives of the organization
•Drive day-to-day editorial agenda, including news, features, online packages, and website updates
•Collaborate with various stakeholders to translate business objectives into effective content solutions
•Manage team of digital producers
•Set and maintain editorial standards and guidelines in the digital space (web, mobile, tablet, etc.)
•Oversee editorial workflow and ensure content is created and deployed effectively, including SEO, taxonomy, document management and other tasks
•Write great web copy and help others do the same
•Create content in a wide variety of formats, including marketing and instructional copy, FAQs, business information, interface and infographics text, newsletter and email communications, etc.
•Apply SEO principles to ensure site performs well in external and internal search
•Use analytics to drive editorial decision making
•Manage special projects, lead new content initiatives and provide insightful solutions to emerging issues
