General Overview
Rotary International seeks a Manager of Network and Telecom. This is a technical management role that will be primarily responsible for the design and management network infrastructure and WAN services. You will achieve this by working with your team and Infrastructure peers to plan and execute network projects and manage day to day operational tasks. You are tasked with improving Rotary’s LAN and WAN environment by implementing updated solutions with a focus on security. Qualified candidates will have a background in network engineering or architecture.
The Manager of Network & Telecom will join a cross-functional team of diverse staff at Rotary world headquarters, working with IT staff and management in our Evanston location as well as our remote technology staff and leaders in our India office.

Experience, Attitudes, Knowledge and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or 7+ equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of management experience, offshore experience a plus.
  • Hands on experience with network technology solutions, including: switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers etc.
  • One or more of the following certifications is a plus:
    • CCNA – Cisco Certified Network Administrator
    • CCNP – Routing and Switching certification
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and perform multiple concurrent and diversified tasks effectively.
  • Strong team player, self-motivated and detailed oriented individual with the ability to collaborate with other teams with an attention to detail.
General Knowledge and Skills

Specific Tasks and Duties
  • System Design and Implementation:
    • Ensure the availability of business data, transmitted internally and externally.
    • Develop and maintain repeatable task procedures.
    • Develop strategies to respond to and recover from  system outages.
    • Architect and oversee the selection and implementation of LAN/WAN solutions.
    • Implement tools to assist in detection, prevention, and analysis of system outages and
    • Working with System Architects and IT Operations to define, build, and maintain Business Continuity Plans and DR strategy.
  • Maintenance and Operations:
    • Perform regular hardware maintenance and software/solution assessments.
    • Monitor networks and systems for system uptime, through the use of monitoring software that detects anomalous system behavior.
    • Lead incident response and conduct root cause analysis on incidents.
    • Continuous review of current systems for improvement.
  • Team Leadership and Management:
    • Understand the business strategy and goals and manage system engineers by assigning tasks to achieve those goals. 
    • Provide clear communications and set expectations for team members. Make data-driven decisions and prioritize work for team.
    • Write comprehensive weekly project reports with up to date status of projects and key metrics.
  • Education:
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of LAN/WAN principals and technologies.
    • Maintain a thorough understanding of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols. 
Work Environment
This position works from Rotary International World Headquarters in Evanston, IL, and involves minor travel to international offices and conferences as needed.
