General Overview
Rotary International seeks a Web Services Architect who will be primarily responsible for modernizing and maintaining the web services architecture and governance within Rotary International. The Web Services Architect guides the efforts of various technical staff within Rotary International in the design, development and deployment of various SOA concepts.
The architect will join a cross-functional team of diverse staff at Rotary world headquarters, working with IT staff, assorted project delivery staff, business intelligence analysts and a team of remote developers in our India office
Profile for Success
A positive outcome for this position is the design and implementation of the new generation of API and other interfaces that will become the means through which internal applications and external partners get access to Rotary International application data.

The candidate in this position must work independently, setting goals and deadlines to achieve the necessary goals of the position. With minimal direction the architect must understand and provide council on optimized application and data architectures.

Knowledge, Skills, Attitudes, and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Five or more years of progressive related work experience as an Solution/Application architect.
  • Direct experience in design and implementation of REST, SOAP and OData services.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Microsoft development technologies – ASP .Net, ASP .Net MVC, C#, Web API, WCF Web Services, Entity Framework and T-SQL.
  • Demonstrated expertise in all phases of the SDLC.
  • Familiarity with Continuous development, build and delivery processes.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and perform multiple concurrent and diversified tasks effectively.

Specific Tasks and Duties
  • Defines and designs service architecture in support of service strategy.
  • Coordinates with business, information and IT architects to understand the implications of respective architectures on service architecture.
  • Ensures overall integrity of the service architecture and maintains a strategic view of the architecture to meet the needs of the integrated service group.
  • Focuses on increasing the breadth of knowledge of the service architecture across the integrated service group and enterprise.
  • Project Coordination: function as the lead employee for service architecture projects in support of Rotary initiatives.
  • Improving Effectiveness: suggest and implement process changes to improve the overall data management effectiveness of Rotary International.
  • Evaluating Projects: review service architecture of projects, monitor outcomes and make recommendations.
  • Carrying Out Research: perform directed and independent research on various service architecture subjects and submit summaries and recommendations.
Work Environment
This position works from Rotary International World Headquarters in Evanston, IL, and involves minor travel to international offices as needed.
