General Overview
The Photo Editor should possess a love for photography, and have the knowledge and skill necessary to find, commission, and curate distinctive and powerful photos. They should help extend and deepen Rotary International’s visual identity by supporting the development of a library of approved imagery that reflects the global community of the organization and the core areas of focus. They should have experience assigning and producing photo shoots for a variety of subject types, including studio and location portraits, reportage, conceptual still life and photo illustration. The Photo Editor works closely with Communications team stakeholders to use photography to visualize complex ideas and stories.  
 
You Will
  • Assign and produce original photography for Rotary International digital platforms, events, print, etc. 
  • Research photography from both traditional and non-traditional photo sources  
  • Provide image support for digital content and social media in required file types, aspect ratios and file sizes  
  • Provide image support for video, motion graphics and animation  
  • Manage photo retouching, manipulation and enhancement  
  • Manage freelancers, photo budget and invoicing. Negotiate fees, secure photo rights and contracts  
  • Partner with the Heritage team to organize and maintain databases of digital image files  
  • Ensure all imagery is GDPR compliant 
 
You Are
  • An expert in Photoshop and InDesign 
  • A master of Illustrator. Experience with Lightroom and Bridge a plus,  
  • A strong communicator, with an eye for detail and good organizational skills  
  • Knowledgeable about the print production process   
  • Knowledge of studio photography a plus. 
  • Familiarity with digital asset management systems 
  • Familiarity with photography rights and licensing. 
  • Proficient in captioning and applying metadata. 
 
You Have
  • BA in the visual arts or relevant work experience 
  • Minimum of 5-years photo editing experience in a digital and print editorial environment
