General Overview
A Video/Audio Specialist at Rotary International is responsible for capturing our members in action. They bring the story of Rotary, our members, programs, and outcome’s to life through still and moving images. They are a hybrid staff videographer and sound engineer that must possess a strong storytelling and client management background. Ideal candidates will have overseen all aspects of digital video and audio gathering, video and podcast production. This role is integral in planning coverage with internal and external resources, field production, documentation and post-production workflow for internal and external resources.  The Video/Audio Specialist will work closely with communications staff to support business units and broad organizational goals.  
 
This role works closely with Rotary partners and internal communication teams to capture audio and video that support a wide range of organizational needs including; events, social media campaigns, websites, blogs, membership and member projects.  Where applicable they will work closely with project teams to shape content briefs, develop shot lists, and related logistics. The Video/Audio Specialist must be flexible and collaborative, building sustainable internal and external relationships.

Video/Audio Specialists must also be efficient and thoughtful in their craft delivering on tight turnaround times and responding to emergent needs.  
 
You Will Be Responsible For
  • Capture, document, edit, and archive Rotary video and podcast content.  
  • Contract, edit and archive content submitted by external resources.  
  • Assist teams as they scope the coverage needs of a project and provide a coverage plan based on available resources, timing, and budgets. 
  • Work collaboratively with teams and internal partners to coordinate resources and schedules.  
  • Ensure the Rotary brand, voice, and visual identity is represented in all content. 
  • Provide cost estimates for content coverage including travel and additional equipment where applicable.  
  • Maintain and utilize appropriate equipment both in studio and in the field.  
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key internal clients. Maintain a productive, supportive environment in a very relationship-based culture. 
Project management
  • Conduct timely and thoughtful edits for all channels including video, podcasts, etc.  
  • Follow Rotary digital asset management process including the use of naming conventions, schedule updates, the acquisition of signed subject releases, gathering information for captions, applying meta-data, and sharing progress. 
  • Ensure compliance of all digital rights management requirements including model/subject releases, vendor contracts, location permits, and required risk management documentation. 
 
You Are Good At
  • Skilled at working with subjects/communities to reduce discomfort and draw out natural/authentic behavior. 
  • Strong oral communication skills and a sophisticated understanding of what should be communicated to various audiences   
  • Strong organization and project management skills 
  • Strong negotiation skills 
  • Ability to independently manage deadlines, juggle priorities and synthesize multiple sources of input 
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Lightroom and digital asset management platforms  
 
You Will Have  
  • Degree in fine arts, photography/BA in journalism or related field required 
  • 5-7 years’ experience in photography and video. 
  • Five years of experience in photography or photo journalism. 
    • Strong composition, lighting, subjects, observational, editorial, and color correction skills. 
    • Knowledge of digital asset management best practices, photo processing, metadata, and media management processes; support software, and storage best practices 
    • Proven track record of producing high-quality photos that are compelling, inspiring, and drive action. 
    • Experience with global audiences and subject matter, as well as experience in a constituent, membership or association environment preferred. Ability to speak multiple languages preferred, but not required.
