Job Description
The Linux Administrator will be primarily responsible for performing the daily duties of OS installation, configuration tuning, troubleshooting, patching, and maintenance. Additionally, the Linux Administrator will have varying degrees of responsibility for work processes, optimization methods and risk management in large and complex projects within Rotary International.
The Linux Administrator will join a dedicated discipline team of diverse staff at Rotary International in our Pune India office. The Linux Administrator will work with other IT staff, assorted project delivery staff, and a team in our India and US offices.

Knowledge, Skills, Attitudes, And Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years working as a Linux Administrator.
  • Expert knowledge in Red Hat, Cent OS, and/or Oracle Linux distributions
  • 5+ years installing, patching, upgrading and maintaining Linux environments.
  • OS performance tuning and advanced troubleshooting skills
  • Ensure the quality and consistency of operating systems by following a defined set of procedures (change control, security procedures, user passwords, backups, hardware configuration.)
  • Pro-actively identifies operating system issues in the online monitoring, alerting and ticketing systems and coordinates resolution of the identified issues.
  • Assume ownership of operating system related problems; pursue problem resolution and root cause analysis
  • Interact with vendors and their support teams in critical operating system problem situations. Work with cross project teams to resolve technical performance issues/bottlenecks (e.g., network, storage, database, application).
  • Perform various project related OS requests for customers.
  • Ability to automate using scripting technologies
  • Keeping up to date with new technology and certifications via training and seminars

Preffered Skills
  • RHCSA / RHCE or LFCS / LFCE
  • VMWare ESXi 5.x and 6.x including best practices for building server templates
  • Knowledge of basic networking concepts: DNS, IPv4
  • Knowledge of anti-virus at an Enterprise server level
  • Familiarity with Cloud Computing: AWS and Azure.
 
Specific Tasks And Duties
  • Production Support – Troubleshooting critical and non-critical OS issues
  • IT Delivery – Delivering scheduled work in the time assigned
  • Communication - Deliver outage notifications and information appropriately
  • Mentoring (as required)
 
Work Environment
This position works from Rotary International in Pune, India, and may involve minor travel to the World Headquarters in Evanston IL USA and other international offices as needed.
