General Overview
Rotary International has embarked on a new strategic plan that calls for the organization to increase our impact, expand our reach, enhance participant engagement, and improve our ability to adapt. Strategic Communications Account Executive is a new role needed to help create the communications strategies, plans and tools that will drive awareness, understanding and organization-wide adoption of this new plan, its priorities and initiatives. This position is also responsible for collaborating with partners across the organization to create the communications plans and tools that help facilitate change management and create a new organizational culture that helps Rotary:
  • Seek out new ways to translate our expertise into making a difference—in our communities and across the globe.

Your job
The ideal candidate is a proactive, visionary thinker with a knack for being able to synthesize complex ideas and communicate those concepts to various audiences clearly and compellingly.  You are passionate about your work, able to focus on the big picture, thrive in relationship-based environments, and know how to deliver impactful communications in a global setting. You are strategic in your thinking, creative in your approach and you get things done. You are equally comfortable in fast-paced situations as you are in ones that are more “measured” in their approach. 
 
Responsibilities
  • Manage outcomes-focused marketing and communications plans that broaden awareness, understanding and adoption of new strategic priorities, goals and key initiatives; creates comprehensive global communications schedules, tools and approaches.
  • Write and edit compelling content (editorial, instructional, advertorial, motivational) that informs, empowers, and engages audiences in organizational priorities
  • Partner with People and Talent and other Communications teams to develop and implement staff and membership-facing change management initiatives
  • Serve as communications project manager for new strategy-related initiatives and opportunities
  • Partner with Corporate Communications group to develop key messages, status updates, position statements, annual report content, speeches and other materials related to strategic plan initiative
  • Identify, manage and report on metrics of success for the plan
 
Knowledge and Skills
  • Superior oral and written communications skills with proven ability to produce compelling, engaging and informative content that reflects a creative and varied writing style
  • The ability to synthesize information quickly, adapting material from various sources into a seamless product
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills—ability to multi-task, focus on detail and work with minimal supervision within cross functional teams
  • Very comfortable working through ambiguous tasks
  • Ability to gauge when it’s necessary to be flexible and when to hold the line in order to drive the best possible results
  • Resourceful, action-oriented and comfortable taking informed risks
  • Ability to use data and research to drive planning and
  • Ability to travel (<10%)
  • Strategic, analytical thinker with demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with design and video production teams to create content
 
Requirements
  • Minimum BA in Communications, Marketing or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Programs or related field; non-profit experience preferred
