General Overview
Rotary International seeks an Technology Architect - Infrastructure who will be primarily responsible for providing the technical leadership to design and build infrastructure solutions that support business objectives.
The architect will join a cross-functional team of diverse staff at Rotary world headquarters, working with IT staff, assorted project delivery staff, business intelligence analysts and a team of remote developers in our India office.

The candidate in this position must work independently, setting goals and deadlines to achieve the necessary goals of the position. With minimal direction the architect must understand and provide council on optimized application and data architectures.

This position reports to and under the management of the Architecture and IT Strategy Manager.
Knowledge, Skills, Attitudes, and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Five or more years of progressive related work experience leading and implementing the design and delivery of infrastructure solutions.
  • Scripting skills in Powershell, Bash; Programming experience in languages like Perl, Python will be a big plus.
  • Preferred background with strong hand-on expertise in Microsoft technologies like Office 365 and Azure.
  • Familiarity with networking technologies.
  • Familiarity with container based technologies like Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Working knowledge of source code management tools for infrastructure scripts and other assets.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform, Ansible.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and perform multiple concurrent and diversified tasks effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Specific Tasks and Duties
  • Strong leadership, vision, effective communication and goal-oriented.
  • Maturity in guiding and influencing challenging team and development environments.
  • Coordinates with business and other IT architects to understand the implications of respective architectures on other dependent applications/infrastructure.
  • Help optimize infrastructure processes and establish realistic SLA’s.
  • Work with the various teams on creating a roadmap to the future.
  • Perform directed and independent research on various infrastructure related subjects and submit summaries and recommendations. 
  • In addition to continue acquiring expertise in the area of Infrastructure architecture, the Infrastructure architect would be required to acquire architecture skills in other areas. This is in line with the goals of the manager to build a “T” shaped individual. 
  • In certain cases, the architect would be required to work off hours and/or weekends.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position works from Rotary International World Headquarters in Evanston, IL, and involves minor travel to international offices as needed.
