SOUTHWEST OHIO HUB DIRECTOR
MENTAL HEALTH & ADDICTION ADVOCACY COALITION
Part-time 30 hrs/week

Established in Cleveland in 2003 with 30 members, the mission of the Mental Health Advocacy Coalition was to provide a broader unified community voice to advocate for mental health issues and to coordinate advocacy efforts. Today, with more than 105 member organizations, the MHAC has become a statewide coalition with the purpose to unify diverse local voices to advocate with the goals of (1) increasing awareness of behavioral health issues that impact people affected by mental illnesses and addiction disorders and (2) advancing policies that positively impact Ohioans affected by mental illnesses and addiction disorders. The MHAC has established itself as a resource for local and state policy makers, members and the community through its ongoing advocacy efforts and data driven research, policy analysis and recommendations.
Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director with involvement with the Southwest Ohio (SWO) Steering Committee of the Mental Health & Addiction Advocacy Coalition (MHAC), is responsible for providing highly confidential policy, education, program and administrative support for the MHAC and its SWO Hub. Responsible for member recruitment and retention in the SWO Hub region. This part-time (30 hours per week) position will be located at the SWO Hub office.
Skills/ Must haves:
•Bachelor’s Degree required.
•Knowledge of government systems and budgets required.
•Experience working with a grassroots organizing campaign, coalition organization or advocacy/ public policy initiatives preferred.
•Ideal candidate will have experience in behavioral health or healthcare issues.
•Must have experience using Internet and Microsoft Office. Experience with SmartSheets, Constant Contact, and webinar software preferred.
•Must have proven ability to work independently in an organized, time-efficient, results-oriented manner.
•Must have proven track record and be able to work effectively and professionally with diverse groups, all levels of staff within the organization and with the public.
•Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities with frequent time constraints.
•Must be able to handle highly confidential and sensitive information.
