Deputy Event Manager

We are seeking a Deputy Program Manager with military event planning experience to support a geographically dispersed team and provide oversight for military sponsored events held at commercial venues. This position will work directly with the Program Manager and serve as an Alternate PM for schedule management and support concurrently scheduled events.
 
The Deputy Program Manager will be based in the Washington DC Metro area. This position requires on-site support and ongoing travel for nationwide and international events. 
 
Requirements include:
  • US Citizen
  • Current Secret security clearance (eligibility to obtain a security clearance may be considered)
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience managing 20 or more staff members
  • 3+ years of event planning experience for military/government sponsored events held at commercial venues
  • Experience with event planning for military chaplain services such as Strong Bonds or Unit Ministry Teams (UMT)
  • Experience managing geographically dispersed teams supporting concurrent events
  • Experience providing event management and planning for venue, food/beverage, travel, childcare licensure, logistics, insurance, A/V, registration, invoicing, billing, and other areas as required
  • Full understanding of federal, state, and military requirements for childcare licensure and insurance
  • Experience planning events in accordance with travel regulations and cost allowances per Federal Travel Regulations (FTR) and Joint Travel Regulation (JTR)
  • Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with government approved vendors
  • Experience preparing and presenting briefs to senior leadership teams
  • Proficiency across Microsoft Office Suite for reporting, communication, and database management
  • Professional Certification such as Certified Government Meeting Professional (CGMP), Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), or equivalent is a plus
  • Professional association with the Society of Government Meeting Professionals, International Society of Meeting Planners, or similar professional organization is a plus
  • Availability to work on-site 3+ days each week
  • Availability to travel 12+ weeks per year (domestic  and international)
