Special Events Planner (CGMP)

We are seeking a senior level Events Planner with experience as a Government Events Planner to provide planning services for military sponsored events. This position will be based in the Washington DC Metro area and requires on-site support and travel for nationwide and international events. 
 
Requirements include:
  • US Citizen
  • Current Secret security clearance (eligibility to obtain a security clearance may be considered)
  • 5+ years of event planning experience for military/government sponsored events held at commercial venues
  • 3+ years of total experience should include planning corporate and military events for senior leadership levels
  • Experience with event planning for military chaplain services such as Strong Bonds or Unit Ministry Teams (UMT) is highly desired
  • Ability to oversee collaborative event planning for venue, food and beverage, travel, childcare licensure, logistics, insurance, A/V, registration, invoicing, billing, and other areas as required
  • Full understanding of federal, state, and military requirements for childcare licensure and insurance
  • Experience planning events in accordance with travel regulations and cost allowances per Federal Travel Regulations (FTR) and Joint Travel Regulation (JTR)
  • Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with government approved vendors
  • Proficiency across the Microsoft Office Suite for reporting, communication, and database management
  • Experience providing briefings and event updates to senior leadership teams on an ongoing basis
  • Professional Certification such as Certified Government Meeting Professional (CGMP), Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), or equivalent
  • Active membership in a related professional organization such as association with the Society of Government Meeting Professionals, International Society of Meeting Planners, or similar professional organization
  • Availability to work on-site 3+ days each week
  • Availability to travel 12+ weeks per year (domestic  and international)
