Performs any combination of the following instructional tasks in the classroom to assist Family/Child Educator in Head Start or Early Head Start by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Greet parents and children upon arrival in a courteous and cheerful manner.
Communicate and interact with children, staff, parents and the public in a pleasant and respectful manner.
Assist with the implementation of lesson plans.
Work with Family/Child Educator to improve literacy and numeric skills for young children.
Participate in small group activities.
Prepares various teaching aids to be used in the implementation of the small group activity.
Use developmentally appropriate techniques to interact with children - individually or in groups - to support learning throughout the day.
Daily completion of USDA documentation at point of service.
Document your observations on the children’s' anecdotal record forms.
Discuss problems or obstacles observed during the day with the Family/Child Educator.
Serve meals and snacks to children.
Clean tabletops and floor areas after meals and activities, and clean cots as needed.
Participate in gross motor developmental activities with the children each day and able to lift any Head Start child when needed.
Other duties may be assigned.

Applicants must meet the following minimum essential qualifications to be considered:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds-especially if necessary to care for a child.
  • Abilities to, with or without reasonable accommodations: talk, hear, stand, reach with hands and arms; stoop; kneel; crouch; crawl; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; see up close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work normal scheduled hours 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., full or part-time; however, must be able to complete new hire orientation either 8a-5p Monday through Friday OR Noon to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • Must be at least 18 years old, at least 21 years old to work with infants and toddlers.
