Support Center Operations’ in providing developmentally appropriate activities for young children enrolled in a Head Start half-day session or full-day session concentrating on children who speak Burmese and Hakha Chin. Ensure the health and safety of all children.
Plan and implement a rotation schedule annually by consulting the Assistant Head Start Director – Quality Assurance or Assistant Cultural and Linguistic Responsiveness Coordinator about enrollment of children who speak Burmese or Hakha Chin.
Assist in the assessment process of all children concentrating on children who speak Burmese or Hakha Chin.
Translate verbally in meetings to facilitate communications between program staff and families.
Translate written documents as needed and directed by the Assistant Head Start Director – Quality Assurance or Assistant Cultural and Linguistic Responsiveness Coordinator.
Assist the teacher in completing two (2) home visits per year per child
Assist Family Partnership Staff in completing one (1) home visits per year per child
Sit and eat with the children and engage in appropriate conversation with them.
Prepare and submit monthly reports outlining the activities accomplished and special projects in progress to the Assistant Head Start Director – Quality Assurance or Assistant Cultural and Linguistic Responsiveness Coordinator.
Document services to children and families in PROMIS.
Organize and maintain records for Cultural and Linguistic Responsiveness Department.
Communicate and interact with children, staff, parents and the public in a pleasant and respectful manner
Occasionally will lift any Head Start/Early Head Start child and participate in gross motor developmental activities with the children.
Engage Parents/Guardians in completing a customer service surveys.
Review Dual Language Learner’s Portfolios and Family Partnership File
Review classroom for Health & Safety concerns
Monitor PROMIS and other databases for accuracy of data and compliance with written documentation to meet Performance Standards, State Licensing and Federal laws.
Other duties as assigned.
A high school diploma or GED
Candidate must be fluent in Burmese and Hakha Chin with the ability to translate Burmese and Hakha Chin to English and English to Burmese and Hakha Chin as well have one year experience working with pre-school children.
Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.
Must have valid driver's license and auto insurance.
Must have transportation and be available for local travel on a daily basis.
Must be able to work evenings and weekends when needed.
