GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The primary function of the Group Sales Manager is to solicit and generate group meeting and event business for The Ridge Hotel and achieve revenue goals for guestrooms, catering and golf.  Events include corporate meetings, executive retreats, and banquets across all market segments.  Manager will be responsible for maintaining relationships with current group contacts and members to obtain repeat business, closing incoming and unsolicited inquiries for business, and prospecting, soliciting and closing on new outside events.  Ideal candidate would have previous Mid-West Market sales experience.
 
 
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
4 years of progressive experience in a hospitality sales
Or a 4 year college degree and at least 3 year of related experience
Or a 2 year college degree and 5 or more years of related experience
Midwest Market sales experience is a plus
Delphi / Salesforce experience also a plus
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Solicit and Sell Group Business for the property, including Corporate Meetings and Catered Functions
Keep in contact with completed groups to confirm and contract future dates
Prospect for future leads, and solicit potential new business through the internet, sales calls and networking opportunities
Attend local and regional strategic networking functions in order to establish for viable prospects
Perform tours and site inspections of property
Coordinate with other staff members in distribution of in-house leads for solicitation
Re-book existing groups throughout the season, including contract negotiation and execution
Prepare contracts and receive /monitor deposits for booked groups when needed
Identify industry trends and propose event offering changes and modifications to remain competitive and relevant in the marketplace
Attend sales team meetings.  Identify obstacles and weaknesses, share competitive challenges, and suggest potential new practices
Communicate client expectations to coordinator staff to ensure seamless level of service for clientele
Maintain files and client / prospects notes and preferences for communication throughout the property
Occasionally assist with detailing responsibilities if business dictates
Keep work area and files in a neat and orderly manner, as other staff members share clients and files
Perform special projects as needed – particularly during the winter
