GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The primary function of the Golf sales Manager is to solicit, rebook and generate group golf (16+ players) business for Geneva National Golf Club and achieve revenue goals for group golf. Manager will be responsible for maintaining relationships with current golf groups as well as build relationships with prospective groups and to obtain repeat business, closing incoming and unsolicited inquiries for business, and prospecting, soliciting and closing on new outside events. This individual is responsible for all booking of golf groups 16+ players include, but not limited to accounting, room reservations and tee times.   
 
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • 3 years of progressive experience in a hospitality sales/golf industry –Some golf knowledge necessary
  • Or a 4 year college degree and at least 2 year of related experience
  • Or a 2 year college degree and 3 or more years of related experience
 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Solicit and Sell golf groups for the property.
  • Responsible for booking guest rooms and golf at Geneva National
  • Work with the Director of Sales/Marketing Team to create offers & packages attractive for group golf outings
  • Keep in contact with Golf groups to confirm and contract future dates
  • Perform tours and site inspections of property
  • Coordinate with other staff members all details for Golf groups to include Conference Service manager, F&B and Golf Operations
  • Re-book existing Golf groups throughout the season, including contract negotiation and execution
  • Prepare contracts and receive /monitor deposits for booked groups when needed
  • Identify industry trends and propose event offering changes and modifications to remain competitive and relevant in the marketplace
  • Attend sales team and Revenue meetings.  Identify obstacles and weaknesses, share competitive challenges, and suggest potential new practices
  • Attend consumer golf shows to prospect for new business   
  • Communicate client expectations to coordinator / event staff to ensure seamless level of service for clientele
  • Maintain files and client / prospects notes and preferences for communication throughout the property
  • Occasionally assist with detailing responsibilities if business dictates
  • Keep work area and files in a neat and orderly manner, as other staff members share clients and files
  • Knowledge of hotel and golf operating systems that include but are not limited to: SalesForce, Delphi, Resort Suite, and Tee Sheets
  • Perform special projects as needed – particularly during the winter
 
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of the time performing each function to be solely determined by the director based upon departmental, golf, catering and hotel needs.
  • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings
  • Perform other duties as requested by management
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
 
  • 40-60 hours a week – schedule based on group / department needs
  • Normal business hours and as groups dictate, including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Ability to work up to 12 hour shifts if needed
  • Occasional light lifting
