Position Summary:

The Technical Engineering Manager – Deltar Fasteners will report to the Plant Manager – Deltar Fasteners and will oversee the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to maintain proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency.  Works together cohesively and responsible for the development of equipment to aid in the manufacturing process. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Receives new product development proposals from the Commercial Engineering team to assist in product design for manufacturing.  Works with sales on a formal project analysis listing all pertinent information along with any sample parts, customer prints, drawings, schematics, etc. which are available.  Reviews product to develop initial project needs for molding, assembly, related automation and quality requirements.
  • Leads project activities for new product introductions or operations improvements.  With team identifies and proposes appropriate equipment for acquisition through the Capital Approval Process.
  • Defines and assigns responsibilities, evaluates performance, and recommends personnel actions for Maintenance, Tooling, Sampling Departments and the Process Engineer.
  • Responsible for developing the overall capability of the Technical Team members at the Chippewa Falls Plant.
  • Defines and assigns responsibilities, evaluates performance, and recommends personnel actions for department(s).
  • Actively participates in APQP process and Design Review process.
  • Identifies the Technical team focus each year as part of the goal setting process.  Leads the Technical team in pursuit of achieving the identified goals.
  • Coordinates engineering, tooling and automation activities in the facility operations.
  • Drives continuous improvement in all areas of manufacturing.

·  Conducts daily walk throughs, data reviews and analysis and offers advice on business and process improvements.

·         Mentors technical team members at all levels based upon personal observations and business improvements.

·         Works closely with the day to day operations group to help with any issues or problems.

·         Other tasks and duties as assigned.

·         Education/Experience:  Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Science discipline.

·         5 – 7  years of experience

·         Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

·         Personally driven and motivates others to excel.

·         An 80/20 mind set and knowledge of the ITW Toolbox.

·         Conducts daily walk throughs, data reviews and analysis and offers advice on business and process improvements.

·         Mentors technical team members at all levels based upon personal observations and business improvements

·         Willing to travel; primarily domestic and occasionally world-wide.

·         Broad knowledge of instrumentation and software technology and design.

·         In-depth familiarity with Plastics products and their applications acquired through at least 5 years of in-house experience.

·         Ability to motivate, guide, and develop a team of technical professionals.
