Position Summary:

The Quality Manager – Deltar Fasteners will report to the Operations Manager – Deltar Fasteners and will be responsible to plan, develop, coordinate, implement, and direct quality programs designed to ensure quality control and quality assurance of the production of products (new and existing) consistent with established standards.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

·         Directly supervises the Quality Engineering area.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and development of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Analyzes, evaluates, and presents information concerning factors such as business situations, production capabilities, manufacturing problems, and design and development of new products for consideration by other members of the management team.

·         Maintain statistical data, reporting quality defects to manufacturing supervision and advise them in correcting quality problems.

·         Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.

·         Maintain cooperative relationship with Manufacturing, Sales, Engineering, vendors and customers in administering the division quality control program.

·         Implement and coordinate the Division wide Quality System Programs which include but not limited to ISO14001 and TS16949 IATF Standard.

·         Work with division PPAP submissions program.

·         Maintains a file of all specifications and prints to familiarize personnel with all products and for reference use.

·         Works with manufacturing on all product quality questions, instituting effective testing and inspection for the development of information relating to quality and brings the findings to their attention to assist them in overcoming such problems.

·         Explains, supervises and assists in the development and installation of new procedures to be followed in the effort to improve product quality.

·         Responsible for the testing and inspections performed on all raw materials, in-process materials and for finished products and for the accurate recording of results and conformance or non-conformance to specifications and standards.  Works with other departments to identify and isolate all unacceptable production.

·         Reviews quality records on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to keep abreast of quality levels.  Prepares reports to alert Operations Manager of quality defects by part number, defect, volume, and status or disposition of the products.

·         Attends meetings to discuss the quality of goods produced and provides statistical data on quality levels relative to production volume.  Works with Engineering to develop quality standards, failure mode and effects analysis on new projects.  Makes recommendations regarding production quality, revision of quality standards for remedial action.

·         Administers the quality assurance program for the business unit.  Makes revisions to the program as deemed necessary.  Is responsible for developing and maintaining acceptance at minimum cost to divisional operation.

·         Works in conjunction with all areas of new production quality design, customer complaints, inter-divisional complaints, special attention orders, specifications, service, inventory, disposition of defective goods, raw materials, etc.  Recommends to Management the disposition of materials and products relations and communicates an understanding of quality control procedures to other operating and service areas.

·         Analyzes all customer complaints regarding the quality of goods produced.  Confers with the Manufacturing and Sales Departments and assists in accumulating all facts and information determining area responsible, effecting remedial action and answering the complaint.

·         Analyze customer complaints and recommend to production management corrective actions to maintain customer good will consistent with cost guidelines.

·         Visits customer locations to determine the validity and extend of a quality complaint and identifies its cause.  Recommends to Operations Manager a course of action to resolve the problem with maximum customer satisfaction and with minimum cost to the division.  Works to ensure good relations with customers in general and especially customer quality control personnel.

·         Performs any other tasks deemed necessary.
