POSITION REPORTS TO: Executive Director, SBM; Executive Director, TBD Client
EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT EMPLOYEE STATUS: Non-Exempt (37.5 hours/week)
 
GENERAL SUMMARY: The Development Coordinator is responsible for supporting and advancing the development and fundraising efforts of the society including special event support, donor cultivation and relationship building activities, solicitation efforts, grant tracking, and donor acknowledgement. This position also serves as a point of contact for inquiries relating to donations and fundraising.
 
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (37.5 hours/week):
 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 
SBM Development Coordination
  • Support the development efforts of the society by coordinating cross-team grant development, communicating deadlines, and maintaining files and systems to chart fundraising and donor relations including the event and donor database and additional project management tools
  • With the Executive Director, support the Development Committee (and any fundraising campaign committees) including scheduling conference calls, taking minutes, working with the chair to set agendas, and serving as a resource to volunteer members
  • Assist the Executive Director and other staff in carrying out annual fundraising campaigns, focusing on improving existing efforts and creating new opportunities for engagement
  • Prepare and submit donations for processing, draft acknowledgement letters, and coordinate year-end tax letters
  • Support in the coordination of Annual Meeting activities to include exhibit sales, sponsorship opportunities, and advertising placements
  • Support in the coordination of Annual Meeting grant submissions and filing of quarterly and closeout reports for awarded grants; maintain society’s federal government accounts to ensure eligibility for grants
  • Support in the training of volunteers to make fundraising asks, sending volunteers reminders about their fundraising tasks, and helping schedule donor prospect meetings for volunteers
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director and Communications Manager, coordinate aspects of the promotional and communications activities for the fundraising campaigns including print and digital materials
  • Assist with special fundraising events and cultivation activities
  • Answer calls and emails with excellent customer service
  • Other duties as assigned
 
TBD Client Responsibilities as Assigned
 
AMOUNT OF TRAVEL REQUIRED: Approximately 3 weeks per year, including some evenings and weekends.
 
OTHER: Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
 
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with outstanding organizational and critical thinking skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a small team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize varied assignments and handle multiple projects. 
  • Computer proficiency required, especially in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in development/fundraising a plus.
