Piney Point Surgery Center is a multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center and fertility lab serving Houston and the surrounding communities. We offer a full complement of services for reproductive health from male and female infertility evaluations to advanced reproductive surgery to preimplantation genetic diagnosis.
 
Our physicians are experts in the field of reproductive endocrinology. Together with a dedicated team of nurses and lab professionals, they provide compassionate, one-on-one care that is personalized for every patient.
 
We are in search of a Clinical Coordinator. The Clinical Coordinator aids the Director of Nursing/Administrator in the daily clinical operations of the facility and provides supervision of the clinical staff in accordance with established federal, state and accreditation regulations and guidelines, as well as established Prelude policies and procedures. The Clinical Coordinator will supervise patient care activities in preoperative, postoperative and intra-operative settings. Takes charge of staff development and orientation. Makes recommendations to Director of Nursing/Administrator for staff discipline and performance management.   
 
Applicants should be excellent with communication, training and hands-on nursing. An ability to multi-task and prioritize is a must. Our environment is fast- paced and we believe in providing our patients with the best possible care in all areas clinical and non-clinical.
 
Essential Responsibilities:
 
  • Participates in patient care activities adhering to the requirements of the Operating Room & Procedure Room RN and/or the Pre-op/PACU RN job descriptions when providing patient care.
  • Participates in patient care activities adhering to the requirements of the Clinical Office RN job description when providing patient care.
  • Assists the Director of Nursing/Administrator in establishing, implementing and evaluating the quality and standards of patient care in conjunction with medical staff and clinical staff.
  • Evaluates nursing staff documentation and patient care through review of medical records.
  • Provides appropriate patient care across the relevant age span.
  • Identifies and reports suspected child, spousal/partner, and elder abuse per protocol.
  • Participates as needed in survey processes.
  • Ensures that appropriate credentialing activities are conducted and documented for all staff, medical students, residents, or other medical or clinical person(s) prior to performing procedures at the center.
  • Participates in QMI plans to identify compliance risk areas and address any compliance issues, as appropriate.
  • Schedules qualified staff to provide required coverage for patient care adhering to applicable guidelines.
  • Establishes and oversees a system to ensure adequate supplies of controlled drugs, supplies, instrumentation and equipment are available to meet patient needs 100% of the time, within budgetary constraints.
  • Coordinates appropriate use of human and material resources, being mindful of budgetary constraints.
  • Provides adequate staffing coverage 100% of the time.
  • Accurately verifies time worked through regular review of time and attendance records.
  • Assures worked FTE ratio is within approved budget or appropriate justification is provided.
  • Cancels staff appropriately according to established protocol when schedule is light in order to remain within budgetary limits.
  • Maintains supply inventory within approved budget.
  • Oversees/coordinates obtaining and returning of borrowed/rented equipment and supplies in the most cost effective and timely manner.
  • Coordinates preventative maintenance and repairs of medical equipment.
  • Assist the surgery scheduler with the daily schedule to facilitate a compressed schedule, accommodating physician orders as well as special requests.
  • Actively holds staff accountable for regulatory standards. 
  • Fosters a positive work environment amongst staff.
  • Conducts regular staff meeting to provide education.
Education and/or Experience:
 
  • Current RN license in state of practice, current BLS and ACLS required. BSN preferred. Minimum three (3) years of ambulatory surgery clinical experience as a registered nurse with one (1) year of administrative/management experience.
