Summary: The Kitchen Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the Metcalfe Market’s recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards. Supervises the kitchen staff. Ensures all equipment is kept clean and in proper working condition through personal inspection and by following the kitchen’s preventative maintenance programs. 

Supervisory Responsibilities: The Kitchen Manager has supervisory responsibility for the kitchen staff, including approximately five (5) direct reports.

 Essential Duties:  Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required.

 Kitchen Manager
• Minimum of 2-3 years’ previous experience as cook, chef, culinary management, restaurant or catering management highly desirable; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Possess strong leadership, organizational and administrative skills
• Supports the department’s staff efforts and work through timely response to questions, caring and appreciative attitude and demonstrated effectiveness in dealing with employee issues.
• Determines variety and quantity of products to be ordered or produced, according to orders and/or sales projections. 
• Conducts inventories and cycle counts as required. 
• Develops and achieves the departmental budget. 
• Directs and schedules department personnel and activities; including timekeeping.
• Negotiates the purchase and delivery of departmental supplies.
• Follows safe food handling and local health department standards.
• Provides insight and input in department personnel decisions such as hire, discipline, reward and termination.  
• Performs effective coaching to all associates. 
• Maintains a safe work environment for employees, vendors and customers.
• Monitors and address customer issues or questions.
• Sustains a high level of product knowledge and product preparation work toward continuous quality improvement
• Stays current with changing technology, including software programs
• Upholds, supports, and promotes all company policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned
