Catering Manager
Full-Time and Part-Time
Madison, WI -  West Towne
  • Weekends required for consideration.
Summary: Responsible for the overall operation of all catering functions for Metcalfe’s Market. The Catering Manager executes the preparation through execution of services to achieve customer satisfaction and exceptional service. Additionally, this individual is responsible for the coordination and supervision of the personnel and the service standards as they relate to the Catering Department. This position requires working weekends and holidays, based on department staffing requirements.

Essential Duties:

  • Strategically plan, direct and evaluate the operation of the Catering Department including but not limited to, food service production, planning, cost control, budget and forecasting.
  • Manages logistics for catering pick up, delivery and catered events and ensure that required food, equipment, personnel and supplies are available for each order and/or event.
  • Purchases food products, supplies, and equipment, and maintains inventory.
  • Works with customers to plan the event budget and catering menu and executes the presentation of the service.
  • Determines the variety and quantity of products to be ordered or produced, according to Catering orders
  • Provides production assistance to the catering and kitchen teams to ensure a seamless  experience for the customer.
  • Participates in hiring, training, scheduling and supervision of catering staff.
  • Directly supervises catering operations on and off site including such duties as, event support, set-up, and clean-up of events of varying size and complexity.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and supports a team environment collaborating with the Store Directors, Culinary Manger, perishable/fresh foods Department Managers to coordinate the cost-effective execution of all fresh foods to achieve desired standards of quality food and service.
  • Creates operational flow and efficiencies to meet or exceed departmental budget and profitability goals.
  • Develops operating tools as necessary e.g. budgeting, work flow, etc.
  • Sustains a high level of product knowledge and product preparation in effort of continuous quality improvement.
  • Performs effective coaching and encouragement to improve to all associates.
  • Ensures that all federal, state and company regulations and standards for product freshness, safety, refrigeration, and sanitation are met.
  • Creates reports and recommendations to the Deli Manager and Culinary Manager as necessary concerning the Catering operations.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
