Availability:
  • Flexibility is required for shifts between 12p - 12a.
  • Weekend and some holidays required for consideration.
Summary: The Front End Manager directs and coordinates activities involved in providing assistance and the delivery of value added services to customers at the service desk. The Front End Manager ensures efficient processing of a variety of transactions such as money orders, transfers and utility payments and supports business operations within the customer service department. The Front End Manager is required to assist customers and maintain complaint resolution as needed with an energetic demeanor. This position requires adhering to all procedural guidelines set by Metcalfe’s Market.

Essential Duties: 
  • Support the department’s staff efforts and work through timely response to questions, with a caring and appreciative attitude and demonstrated effectiveness in dealing with employee issues.
  • Provide input to Assistant and Store Director regarding staff concerns/issues.
  • Assists in planning and preparing bagger work schedules.
  • Assigns associates to specific front end duties.
  • Coordinates break bagger schedules.
  • Ensures that front end associates adhere to policy and procedural guidelines.
  • Scan cigarettes and tobacco products and alcohol for minor cashiers.
  • Provide insight and input in department personnel decisions such as hire, discipline, reward and termination.
  • Perform effective coaching to associates.
  • Maintain a safe work environment for employees, vendors and customers.
  • Monitor and address customer issues or questions.
  • Sustain a high level of product knowledge.
  • Work toward continuous quality improvement.
  • Uphold, support, and promote all company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: The Front End Manager has supervisory responsibility for the Department including direct reports.
 
Qualifications: 
  • High School diploma/equivalent required.
  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or technical school training preferred.
  • One or more years of management/supervisory experience in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Must have strong people management skills.
