Role Summary:
 
The Vice President Finance, Canada will serve as a key member of the global financial leadership team reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. In addition to being able to jump into a situation and roll up his/her sleeves, the successful candidate establishes the short- and long-term financial objectives for Canada, measures performance against these objectives, and supports course-correction to meet these objectives. This role is also responsible for leading the North American Financial Shared Services function. In this capacity, the VP of Finance, Canada will also be responsible for building out strong, scalable processes and systems. This is a newly created position to support the growth of Tilray, and as such the incumbent will be empowered to play a key role in the driving of insightful business decisions. We are seeking a seasoned Finance leader with an entrepreneurial drive, experience working as part of a global team, strong leadership skills and proven ability to partner across the organization.
 
Responsibilities
  • Works with global integration team and plays an integral role in integrating in-country acquisitions
  • Works with numerous diverse businesses, all with their own unique products, channels and customers
  • Leads the North American Support Center (AP/AR/Payroll). Will help to build out this function including leading through related automation
  • Builds deep and trusted partnerships with senior leaders across the organization to help optimize and strategize around investment decisions
  • Provides ongoing mentorship, training, and development of direct and indirect reports
  • Brings new thinking and ways of doing things to the function, as appropriate, including evaluating financial performance of the country with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts. Provides both short and long-term growth plans for the country
  • Creates and establish yearly financial objectives that align with the company’s expansion plans
  • Prepares and presents monthly financial budgeting reports
  • Reviews and ensures application of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures
  • Continually improves processes and ensures consistencies, drives change as necessary, and elevates the level of finance service for Canada, leverages automation (e.g., systems, bots for processes, etc.) wherever possible to drive efficiency and create paths to better scale the organization
Requirements
  • Leadership at a matrixed, public company, preferably CPG or Pharma
  • A CPA accounting designation and a relevant post-secondary degree in Accounting and leading the Finance function Finance combined with 10+ years of financial leadership experience
  • Experience transforming shared services functions, preferred
  • Significant experience working and leading cross-functionally in high growth organizations
  • Relationship builder who inspires trust and confidence internally and externally
  • Action-oriented leader who gets things done
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence and executive presence with the ability to engage and motivate staff. Strong track record building, leading and mentoring high-performing teams
  • Experience providing decision support for a range of projects, investments and strategic initiatives
  • Ability to deal effectively with ambiguities and to manage multiple projects through completion, often under tight deadlines, with frequently changing priorities
  • The ability to present financial analytics in a clear and concise manner and highly capable of dealing with complex negotiations
