Reporting to the Logistics Manager, the Buyer (Oils & Extracts) is accountable for the oil and extract orders from Tilray, packaging components for oil consuming products (example: droppers & vapes), consumable products used in oil formulation, cost savings initiatives and new product launch support.

Role and Responsibilities

Purchasing Function
  • Oversee the issuance of purchase orders as recommended by the planning system or as requested by Procurement Supervisor.
  • Manage PO approval process, PO revisions, supplier confirmation and returns
  • Manages supplier bidding process with creation of RFQs submission to suppliers and summary returned information as requested.
  • Controls Suppliers compliance to on time delivery, terms and conditions, supply contracts and product specifications.
  • Responsible for communication flow between suppliers and A/P to insure timely and accurate payments to suppliers.
  • Manage supplier quality issues including return material authorization, cause and corrective action documentation and supplier credits.
  • Participates as needed in the Product Specification creation/revision process and facilitates execution with suppliers.
  • Communicate with transportation to insure timely pick up from manufacturing and delivery to other suppliers, distribution centers or end-order fulfillment
Planning Function
  • Manage updates in the planning system to insure accurate purchasing resulting actions.
  • Production material planning integration with printing production tickets and associated production resources
  • Prepare daily and long-term production schedules utilizing ERP and sales forecasts
  • Provide support to Planner to develop delivery commitments by coordinating scheduling activities with production team to balance production capacity, productivity, and on-time delivery metrics
  • Provide support to Planner to develop, publish, and maintain Production Schedule for manufacturing site
  • Analyze priority orders for material /capacity availability and adjust production schedules to ensure on-time delivery
 
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Must have a degree/diploma in Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Materials Management or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience directly related to purchasing and planning in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working experience in the Manufacturing industry required
  • Prior experience using an ERP system.
  • Strong computer skills in a Windows environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, solid organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize projects and strategy based on defined corporate goals and initiatives.
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments and key business partners.
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
