Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), the Director, Commercial Finance Business Partner will provide financial leadership to optimize business results. As a member of the CRO’s Leadership Team, this role will work closely with Sales and Marketing to maximize trade and marketing investments. The Director, Commercial Finance Business Partner will liaise with Finance to ensure compliance to standard policies and processes, and will coordinate with FP&A on matters related to Integrated Business Planning.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Provide finance leadership to optimize financial results for Sales and Marketing teams
  • Develop with Sales and Marketing teams KPIs to drive sustainable profitable growth
  • Lead Sales and Marketing through the Integrated Business Planning process (2-year strategy, annual commercial and operating plan, budgeting, forecasting)
  • Support finance analytics aspects of Sales and Marketing (e.g. customer/channel/product profitability, portfolio mix, etc.)
  • Provide financial support to management of trade spend, marketing spend, CI (cost improvement) initiatives and other key Sales and Marketing initiatives
  • Advise Sales on customer pricing and contracts
  • Support Sales in setting up contract terms for customers and during contract negotiations
  • Advise Marketing on financial feasibility of product launches, including product pricing
  • Support Marketing on innovation approval gates
  • Work with AR Team on credit review approval process for customers, if applicable, and on set up of new customers
  • Provide financial modelling and analytics, including insights and recommendation, on innovation launches

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • University Degree in Accounting, or a related discipline, plus a recognized professional accounting designation (CMA, CGA, CA, CPA) and MBA degree an asset
  • 8-10 years in a Financial Management Role
  • Progressive Sales Finance and Category Finance experience in the CPG industry preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Excel is essential, including pivot tables, INDEX and VLOOKUP
  • Experience presenting financial analysis that supports decision making and oversight processes
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, impact and lead others
