Reporting to the CEO, the Quality Supervisor will be responsible for the coordination of work to ensure the successful implementation of Cannfections’ GFSI standard quality management system in pursuance of regulatory compliance and achievement of business goals. The Quality Assurance Supervisor will work closely with production, maintenance, facilities and shipping teams to ensure that quality standards are established, implemented and maintained throughout all manufacturing operations.
Through the effective management of targets, goals and production efficiencies, the Quality Supervisor will ensure the ongoing success of the Quality team. The Quality Supervisor will improve quality inspection, monitoring, documentation and other in-house processes with the objective of constant improvement of quality processes.  The Quality Supervisor will support the development, implementation and ongoing monitoring of the quality assurance systems in strict compliance with Health Canada’s Cannabis regulations and aim towards GFSI certification.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain GFSI standard quality systems within department to ensure product quality and/or regulatory compliance
  • Daily Quality tasks include:
    • Communication with customers and suppliers quality departments
    • Release of incoming materials
    • Raw material / final product sampling
    • Update and maintain quality systems including: GFSI, CFIA/FDA, Customer Programs, GMP, QMS, SOP and FORMS.
    • Verify that quality in production meets requirements
    • Corrective actions follow up
    • Management review
    • Check production lines
    • Check reports
    • CCP Validation
    • Mock recalls
    • Continuous improvement of quality and safety of products
    • Perform and manage quality training
    • Labeling
  • Monitor all QC and QA related data for compliance to Health Canada and lead corrective action required
  • Perform internal audits and communicate non-compliances and collaborate with respective departments on corrective actions
  • Perform and/or oversee batch record review and approval process
  • Monitor the performance of quality assurance employees within department
  • Maintain a safe, clean and legally compliant workplace
  • Identify, investigate, correct and document potential quality and compliance issues
  • Motivate members through the setting of clear expectations
  • Plan for manpower and equipment needs
  • Ensure compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery
  • Provide leadership for problem and conflict resolution
  • Identify and determine quality and productivity related problems and solutions
  • Maintain and adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Perform other tasks as may be assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Must have post-secondary education specific to departmental role (degree, diploma, certificate)
  • 3+ years experience in Quality in GFSI certified food manufacturing
  • Proven ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Applications
  • Experience in a supervisory role
  • Must possess excellent communication skills for liaising and communicating staff, vendors, and other departments
  • Highly capable of multi-tasking, with minimal supervision
  • Extremely detail-oriented and analytical thinker 
  • Able to interface directly with cross functional teams
  • Able to develop, review, and maintain metrics and audits
  • Proven problem identification skills
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
