Position Title:  Patient Service Representative
 
Primary Service Center: Springfield, Ohio (South Limestone Location)
 
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
 
Work Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, some evening may be required
 
Position Summary and Responsibilities:  Full-time position responsible for providing support for the daily activities of the medical office including: filing, telephone coverage, appointment scheduling, patient registration and referrals.
 
  • Answers triage and either responds to inquiry, directs caller to appropriate personnel or initiates task in EHR for response by medical personnel.
  • Registers patients by verifying that patient’s record is up to date and accurate. Makes appropriate changes to patient electronic record.
  • Greets and directs patients, salespeople and visitors and directs them appropriately.
  • Maintains electronic health records (EHR) including scanning of documents to the accurate location in the EHR system.
  • Performs check-in and check-out for patients using practice management computer system and follow autoflow module in EPM.
  • Completes general filing either by hand or electronically.
  • Schedules appointments and enters appointment date and time into computerized scheduler.
  • Maintains computerized appointment scheduler.
  • Assists clinical staff with telephone triage.
  • Conducts reminder calls to all patients.
  • Verifies insurance information, collects copay, check patient balance and ask for payment, update information as necessary.
  • Collects and enters accurate data for various grant reporting systems including UDS reporting, MATCH data for the Ohio Department of Health.
  • Responds to medical records request by preparing, then transferring to appropriate office   or sending to requesting party.
  • Completes medical certification requests for patients seeking utilities service extensions..
  • Uses various office machines.
  • Enroll patients in patient portal
  • Follow check in- autoflow

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Willingness to learn necessary types of computer applications including electronic health record system
  • Ability to work in a team environment and maintain good working relationships with co-workers and patients
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, required.
  • Previous experience in a patient care setting preferred and/or knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
