The Data Analyst is responsible for collecting and analyzing data for the Flight Operations training department. The Data Analyst, working closely with the Curriculum Development Specialist, employs ISD techniques and data results into the design of new training programs and changes to existing programs. The Data Analyst will coordinate with the Manager of AQP to utilize Program Audit Database (PADB) results to ensure that the training program meets the needs of the airline.

The Data Analyst reports directly to the Manager of Flight Operations Training and will maintain a close working relationship with the Manager of Standards and the Manager of AQP.


The Data Analyst should possess the following knowledge and skills or equivalent education and/or work experience:

  • Two (2) years of higher education (preferred) or have two (2) years’ experience in a Part 121 operational role.
  • Capable of learning FAA regulatory requirements related to training and evaluation for pilots and Instructor/Evaluators.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Data Analysis experience utilizing Microsoft Access and Excel. Ability to write formulas and create charts from various types of data points.
  • Ability to work on various projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to disseminate data results to Training Managers, Subject Matter Experts and Curriculum Development Specialists.


Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyze data to identify trends.
  • Assist in data collection strategies.
  • Provide trend information to Flight Operations Training Management and the Curriculum Development Specialist.
  • Prepare spread sheets and/or charts and findings of the data on all AQP events (training, validation, and evaluation) for the quarterly Flight Data Acquisition Working Group (FDAWG). Collaborate with the Curriculum Development Specialist to present trend results and how they will be incorporated into the curriculum.
  • Assist the Curriculum Development Specialist, Subject Matter Experts, and the Manager of AQP in new training program Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation.
  • Assist in the administration of existing curriculum, through electronic form submission to Crew Records, as needed, and submission of monthly AQP data to AFS280, as needed.
