We are hiring a Dental Assistant for our Seal-A-Smile program at Progressive Community Health Centers. This is a full-time position that is primarily school-based with some clinic assisting during periods where school is not in session and does not require working late nights, weekends, or holidays.

Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Dental Supervisor, the Dental Assistant will perform various dental procedures and tasks including sterilization, lab work, chairside assisting as directed by the Dental Provider, and assist in the Seal-A-Smile school-based program with our Dental Hygienist. The Dental Assistant will work primarily in the school-based program and will work chair-side when not at school locations.
 
Responsibilities
  1. Establishes good rapport with School Officials and Staff to communicate the need for consents, as well as planning treatment and education days around established school schedule.
  2. Prepares treatment trays for patients for the school-based Sealant program.
  3. Opens and closes treatment area in the assigned school location. Prepares Treatment room/area according to Seal-A-Smile procedure.
  4. Escort students to and from classrooms for treatment.
  5. Assists Dental Hygienist with by providing a clear field of vision for sealant placement.  
  6. Records treatment information in patient records in Wisdom and the Wisconsin Sealant Portal. As well as using a two-step identifier to confirm correct patient is being seen.
  7. Assist with inventory for program by physical count.
  8. Create content and implement oral hygiene instructions for Education Days.
  9. Equipment maintenance to include clear or maintenance to water line (every Monday) or initial move in day.
  10. Packing materials, moving, bending, and lifting of equipment.  Transporting equipment from Progressive Community Health Centers to and from different school site.
  11. Follow up contact with parents to coordinate care for patients with urgent needs.
  12. Maintain a monthly report of time spent in Seal-A-Smile for reporting/grant purposes and share with the following people: Project leader, Dental Supervisor, Dental Director, CFO, CMO and Program Grant Manager.
  13. Work on clinic floor when program is not active in school.
  14. Perform other job-related duties, as may be assigned
 
Requirements
  1. High School Graduate or Equivalent
  2. Completion of a Dental Assistant Certification program from an accredited technical college or state training program.
  3. A minimum of six months of on-the-job training in a clinic or dental office.
  4. Experience in a community health, public health or community hospital, preferred.
