We are hiring a Medical Assistant at our Lisbon Avenue Health Center in Milwaukee, WI. This is a full-time position consisting of working in our Family Medicine department. This position does not require working late nights, weekends, or holidays.

Summary
Under the direction of the Clinic Manager, the Medical Assistant will assist medical staff and providers in the examination and treatment of patients. As a member of the medical support team, the Medical Assistant will help maintain exam and treatment rooms, operate medical equipment as directed and give injects and/or treatments as needed.
 
Responsibilities
  1. Maintains supply and inventory for exam rooms, in accordance with clinic and OSHA requirements and responsibly upkeeps and maintains patient care areas.
  2. Greets, assesses and interviews patients and obtains history including past medical and surgical history, family history, social history and complete set of vital signs. In addition, reviews current medications, allergy history and chief complaint.
  3. Acts as a liaison between the provider and the patient.
  4. Reviews patient charts for completeness, as well as processing orders for referrals, labs, x-rays, etc.
  5. Prepares and assists patients for appointment with medical staff.
  6. Anticipates need for assessment and monitoring of patients prior to and during examination, treatment, emergency, acute illness or procedures.
  7. Responds to patient concerns in person or by telephone while simultaneously accessing and documenting the problem. Receives and routes phone calls to providers and/or appropriate staff. Ensures patient phone calls are returned in a timely manner.
  8. Maintains accurate and timely documentation of interventions
  9. Performs other job-related duties, as may be assigned
 
Requirements
  1. Graduate of a Medical Assistant program from an accredited school or training program.
  2. State certification and EPIC experience, preferred.
  3. Experience in a community health or public health center, or in a community hospital, a plus.
