SUMMARY
Supervises and coordinates all operational functions of the Second Shift including routine maintenance inspection, servicing, tire changes, and fueling related to pooled and dedicated equipment to ensure customer satisfaction.  Effectively manages Operations of the Second Shift tasks to ensure optimally prompt return of equipment to on-line status while maintaining high customer service for our off and on port customer base.   
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
∙      Assist in the training, management and development of Operations personnel.
∙      Schedule and direct subordinate(s) in inspection, service, fueling, and shuttling/dispatch of terminal tractors and
        trailers, and manage problems which arise in these areas.
∙      Interpret and administer company policies, standard operating procedures and safety regulations.
∙      Analyze and resolve work problems, or assists subordinate(s) in  problem resolution.
∙      Check terminal facility for yard truck and trailer flats and bad hubs, and schedule necessary tire changes. 
∙      Manage shift response to leased equipment breakdowns.
∙      Inspect equipment for acceptability to the customer, and manage problem resolution with customers/drivers of
       leased equipment.
∙      Investigate and report all incidents and accidents involving company property or persons.
∙      Maintain records of work hours, supplies utilized and work performed.
∙      Prepare reports as needed.
∙      Participate in the preparation of Confirmed Order Rental Reports (C.O.R.R.) and other required reports.
∙      Suggest changes in working conditions, standard operating procedures and equipment utilization to increase
       efficiency, customer satisfaction and employee morale/productivity.
∙      Develop and maintain relationships with customers and other agencies, communicating in a professional manner
        and resolving service issues and any disputes.
∙      Dispatch trucks and trailers in a timely manner, verifying the credentials of all drivers.
∙      Confer with other supervisors regarding schedules for assigned areas of responsibility.
∙      Update Operations Manager daily on departmental work completed, as well as any departmental requirements.
∙      Performs all duties of supervised employees as needed.
∙      Comply with Company/Agency policy/procedures and maintain a clean and safe work environment.  Wear 
        required personal protective equipment during the performance of job duties.
∙      Other duties may be assigned.
 
CUSTOMER RELATIONS SKILLS
This position requires knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.  This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. The ability to keep a cool head in a crisis situation is essential.
 
KNOWLEDGE AND USE OF TOOLS
Operations Shift Supervisors work with a variety of tools on a daily basis, including wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, and welding equipment, as well as pneumatic and power tools.  They are expected to know how to handle these tools and use them safely.
 
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current/valid drivers' license with clean driving record. 
TWIC card is a plus but not required.
Class A or C license a bonus but not required.
