Position:  Parts Delivery Driver

Utilize computer software, pallet jack, and forklift to receive, organize, and issue parts and equipment at the Parts Distribution Center location. Provide requested inventoried parts and/or equipment to Fleet locations based on work orders and requests provided by PDC office personnel. Delivery of parts and/or equipment to other locations requires Parts Delivery Driver to perform transport by flat bed truck or other vehicles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Utilize flat bed truck or other vehicles to deliver parts for repair and maintenance of leased terminal tractors, Company-owned terminal tractors, trailers, and other vehicles/equipment. 
  • Provide delivery documentation to Purchasing Agent, Accounting Clerk, and PDC Manager as required.
  • Load parts for transport to other locations utilizing forklift when necessary. 
  • Properly secure load for transport to truck.
  • Maintain required DOT certifications.
  • Observe Company Policy/Procedures and maintain a clean and safe work area.  Wear required personal protective equipment during the performance of job duties.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Experience in maintenance and heavy-duty automotive logistics industry and a strong working knowledge of parts and maintenance are desirable. Knowledge of receiving, storage, and inventory processes for parts and equipment is helpful. Must have good knowledge of part numbers, part usage, and understand their application for use. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services is required. Knowledge of Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida driver’s regulations and traffic signage, and an ability to operate a vehicle safely are required. Must be able to safely operate a flat bed truck.
The ability to quickly diagnose the source of a problem requires good reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Strong problem-solving skills are required, as well as the ability to use a diagnostic approach to trouble-shoot and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to be exact or accurate in completion of work is required. 
General high school diploma or its equivalent is adequate for this position, with six months to one year of related experience and/or training.
Ability to read, write and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and policy/procedure manuals, comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Good interpersonal and communications skills are needed to be able to work with other employees and managers of other departments, and with customers and vendors.
Mathematics are frequently required to perform calculations using basic arithmetic. Ability to add, subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these computations using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals using units of American money and measurement, as well as metric.
Basic computer skills and Internet experience are helpful.
Current/valid driver’s license, TWIC card, and forklift certification. Maintain all certifications required by OSHA and Company safety programs.
Must have knowledge of machines and tools utilized in the production process, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. The following tools are used in the performance of their duties: dollies, forklifts/lift trucks, hand trucks or accessories, power hoists, pallet trucks, pallet jacks; pallet transport trucks; banding machinery.  They are expected to know how to handle these tools and use them safely.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and/or walk for long periods of time; kneel, crouch or crawl, squat and bend; roll over; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and reach while twisting body. The employee must have the ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.  The employee is required to talk to customers/drivers. The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, or balance, and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 or more pounds, as well as manipulate, or assemble very small objects. The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 or more pounds, as well as manipulate loads, such as solid truck tires, up to 450 pounds. Climbing steps up to 24 inches high into and down from trucks is required and performed up to 30 or more times daily. Brisk walking from vehicles up to 5 hours per day is usual. Employees frequently work with dirty and greasy parts and stand or lie in awkward positions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and/or equipment. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration; high, precarious, places and confined spaces; outside weather conditions. Shops are sometimes drafty. There is risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to contaminants, chemicals, and air-borne particles. Sounds or noise levels are loud and can be distracting or uncomfortable.
