Job Summary: The Housing Locator & Resource Coordinator is responsible for working closely with the case managers to assist Safe Places participants in identifying and meeting their personal goals. This person is required to conduct research on resources and benefits available in the local area, develop relationships and coordinate with landlords, private and nonprofit organizations. The principal duties are performed both in a general office environment and in the community where program participants reside. 
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide Housing Resources for Safe Places Residents.
  • Support case managers in keeping residents stably housed by working with local community agencies or identifying other options as needed. 
  • Assess housing barriers of Safe Places families experiencing homelessness to determine housing and service needs.  
  • Conduct ongoing research to compile available units and distribute among all housing program staff for dissemination to clients. 
  • Provides housing-related advice, consultation and guidance to all case managers to better assist Safe Places families
  • Provides tenancy support, including tenant education workshops and consultation on case-by-case basis. 
  • Keeps apprised of housing resources and new developments. 
  • Tracks client interactions through data entry system
Support Safe Places Staff in Resource Gathering for Safe Places Clients
  • Coordinate services with Safe Places staff and service providers in the community
  • Work towards eliminating all possible barriers to goal attainment through direct advocacy and working closely with Safe Places Case Managers. Services may include (working with SP client on job resumes; removing transportation barriers; assisting with scholarship applications; applying for health insurance etc.)  
  • Plan for, attend and actively participate in all pertinent case reviews and team meetings. 
  • Conducts initial and monthly home inspections for Safe Places participants when notified by Safe Places Director. 
  • Coordinate Safe Places Quarterly Pest inspection. 
  • Actively seek out needed resources for survivors through networking with community resources and attending community-based meetings. 
  • Assist Safe Places case managers in new client move-ins and getting SP unit ready for new families. 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in human services, education, low-income housing, communications or related field. 
  • Experience with the MLS listings and or providing services to homeless population suggested.
