Compliance Specialist at Winc
The Compliance Specialist at Winc is a responsible for all licensing and alcoholic beverage compliance requirements for our products. This role will report to our General Counsel and work with teams across the company, including Operations, Marketing, and Product. Please note that this is not an attorney role.
As a Compliance Specialist you will…
  • Be responsible for company compliance with all wine & spirits regulatory laws/policies and ensure accurate records are kept to support this statement.
  • Review, analyze, and approve promotional and marketing materials to ensure they are compliant with applicable state and federal guidelines.
  • Be the main point of contact for the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax Trade Bureau (TTB), the California Department of Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC), state regulatory agencies and compliance service providers.
  • Review, approve, and submit federal winery operations schedules and federal excise tax schedules.
  • Monitor new regulations guidelines, policies, federal register notices, trade papers, journals, and regulatory seminars and training programs for the purposes of interpreting and commenting on changes in regulatory policies and issues.
  • Liaise with winery properties, production facilities and vineyards to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Collaborate with the COO and General Counsel to develop policy and corporate compliance strategy.
  • Work with Marketing, Operations, and Product teams to foster compliance best practices.
  • Perform audits and evaluations of records/processes/procedures and advise on company best practices.
If you’re the ideal candidate, you have….
  • A Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years relevant work experience or Paralegal Certification. Please note that this is not an attorney role.
  • Proven ability to meet and manage strict deadlines.
  • Experience with the ShipCompliant platform (preferred, but not required)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, specifically across multiple teams, personalities, and with government agencies.
  • A personality that is driven by high attention to detail while working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial work environment.
  • Candidate should be self-motivated and able to work with limited direct supervision.
