This full-time position is based in Chicago, Illinois.
 
Arbor Lodging is a leading hotel investment and management company with a portfolio of premium branded hotels across the United States.  We are currently seeking an experienced training manager to join our growing team. In this position, you will manage the effective implementation of training events and special projects throughout our organization. You will oversee, design, develop, coordinate, and run various training programs.

  • Assist in the creation of strategy and execution of Talent Development goals
  • Identify future training needs and create curriculum to facilitate that training
  • Facilitate Arbor Lodging Cultural training including:
    • Service Programs (Brand & Arbor)
    • Sexual Harassment
    • Executive Onboarding
    • New Hire Orientation
  • Onboarding programs
  • Facilitate Property Level Orientations for:
    • Openings & Acquisitions as needed
  • Deliver Train the Trainer classes to leaders and task force members
  • Assess employees’ skills, talents, performance and productivity and prepare written evaluations with advice for improvement
  • Creation of well documented property trip reports and share feedback with property General Managers & Divisional VP’s as needed 
  • Provide structure and process for updating and tracking Hourly Certification, General Manager Readiness & Associate Development Programs.
  • Coordinate and execute bi weekly “On the Menu” virtual learning sessions with property leaderships
  • Assist with facilitating “above property” training as required
  • Work with company LMS software to provide performance support for Divisional VP’s & Property leadership
  • Build feedback loops and constant improvement best practices for Talent Development Programs
  • Assist in the creation of course measurement tools (tests, exams, surveys, etc…)
  • Participation in coordinating annual Leadership Summit event(s)
  • Other duties as assigned by Sr. Dir. Talent Development

Physical demands
  • Ability to communicate orally with trainees, department and senior management, training vendors, and coworkers is crucial. 
  • Regular use of phone and email for communication is essential. 
  • Hearing and vision correctable to within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, receiving ordinary information, and preparing or inspecting documents.
  • The ability to remain in a stationary position roughly 50% of the time 
  • Using a computer while sitting for extended periods is common. 
  • Must also be able to position self to set up and utilize multimedia equipment, including under tables and desks.
  • No heavy lifting is expected, though occasional exertion of 25+ lbs. of force (e.g., moving and setting up presentation equipment, tables/chairs) may be required. 
  • Good manual dexterity required to use common office equipment (e.g., computers, mobile devices, calculators, copiers, scanners).
  • Travel up to 50% of the time domestically with duration of up to 7 days may be required.

Required education and experience
  • Previous Training Supervisor/Manager Experience (minimum 3 years) is required
  • Superior facilitation skills are required
  • Hotel Operations knowledge/experience preferred
  • Opening/Acquisition experience preferred
  • Superior coaching & communication skills (Hourly, Management & Executive) preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to assess situations, plan actionable tasks & execute those tasks as needed is preferred
  • Previous “Schoox” Learning Management Platform experience a plus
  • Experience designing and implementing curricula preferred
  • Excellent team-building, organization and leadership skills
Preferred education and experience
  • A bachelor’s degree in education, business administration, or liberal arts or at least 3+ years of experience in a corporate or business setting, preferably in hospitality related environment is preferred. 
  • Must be legally allowed to work unrestricted within the United States of America.
  • TIPS Facilitator Certification a plus
  • Illinois Basett Certification a plus
  • Fluent in Spanish
