Corporate Director of Employee & Labor Relations
Arbor Lodging is searching for a Corporate Director of Employee & Labor Relations! This newly created role will be at the Arbor Lodging Chicago office, and will report to the Vice President of Human Resources, and be responsible for the development and implementation of total rewards, labor relations and compensation solutions and best practices. Arbor Lodging has been in a solid growth pattern, with 22 Hotels across the United States, we are looking for another year of monumental growth across our portfolio.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Reports directly to the Vice President of Human Resources.  The Corporate Director of Employee & Labor Relations is responsible for developing and implementing total rewards, employee/labor relations and compensation solutions/best practices.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Design and implement an employee relations framework, including policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance and enhance the employee experience.
  • Ensure compliance for all state and federal mandates, to include regular review and update of employee handbook(s).
  • Conduct investigations and address employee issues while working in partnership with Operations and Legal to make recommendations on appropriate courses of action.
  • Provide education to managers and employees regarding relevant employment principles, complex employee relations issues, performance management, workplace investigations and critical incident management.
  • Partner with VP of HR to create and implement change management strategies and communications in support of organizational and portfolio design as appropriate.
  • Analyze employee relations trends to develop solutions and strategies and make recommendations based on data.
  • Design and facilitate training and workshops on key HR policies and best practices.
  • Manage all exit interviews and analyze trends with recommended approaches to resolve areas of concern.
  • Develop HR solutions and communicate corporate direction for labor union strategies.
  • Manage compensation programs and systems; including administration of performance management process, leadership incentive plans and associated compensation structures.
  • Oversee employee benefits programs; including procurement, vendor management and performance analysis.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor or advanced degree in HR, Labor Relations or Business preferred; equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience can be considered.
  • Strong knowledge and experience structuring a broad range of Total Rewards programs
  • Knowledge and experience of hospitality industry preferred
  • Experience providing leadership to negotiating collective bargaining agreements and resolving employee grievances
  • Prior labor and employee relations within a multi-state environment
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures and human resources related regulations
  • Effective change management experience with start-up or growth-oriented business preferred
  • Strong emotional intelligence and written and communication skills
  • Skilled at building cross organizational partnership and consensus while advocating for employees
  • Strong business acumen with proven ability to apply organization-wide strategy to HR principles and implementing them accordingly
