Hotel Phillips is an iconic hotel with an illustrious past.  Originally established in 1931, this Kansas City hotel was once the tallest building in town, standing 20 stories high and boasting 400 guest rooms.  Today, Hotel Phillips offers 216 elegant guest rooms, and is on the National Register of Historic Places, yet it maintains much of the historic charm and original Art Deco features which make it a true gem in the heart of downtown.
 
An art lover’s paradise, Hotel Phillips offers beauty around every corner.  Original Art Deco features include elaborate bronze and nickel metalwork, lustrous walnut paneling, stylish light fixtures, 20-story mail chute, and the Goddess of Dawn statue overlooking the lobby.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:
  • Welcoming and acknowledging all guests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner.  Establishing rapport to build loyal and satisfied guests.
  • Taking and serving food and beverage orders.  Checking identification and enforcing age requirements in accordance with federal, state and local laws.  Picking up food from the kitchen and communicating any special preferences or allergies to the chef.
  • Mixing and garnishing beverages according to recipe and portion control standards.
  • Ensuring bar and lounge stations are full stocked, clean and organized.
  • Totaling, processing and collecting payments from guests.
  • Clearing tables and preparing for service by performing side work (polishing cutlery, glassware, crockery, etc.)
Qualifications include:
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years of related hotel experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of spirits and wine.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (including longer hours) to meet business needs.
