The Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting for awarded grants (federal, state and city), ensuring that the agency is in compliance with all internal controls and external grantor requirements.
Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Conducts the day-to-day accounting functions related to sponsored programs and other grants accounts including:
    • Proposing processes and practices related to grant funds
    • Supporting the Program Managers to maintain the financial reporting and other administrative requirements
    • Monitoring/tracking program status
    • Preparing for A-133 audit process
  • Prepares or reviews all accounting entries (transactions and journals) related to sponsored programs and grants funds
  • Prepares invoice/billings and collects funds for the support of grant fund expenditures on a timely basis
  • Prepares all applicable fiscal reports for sponsored programs on a timely basis
  • Continues to develop professional capabilities and knowledge by attending professional development training, understanding how changes in policy or personnel in the OMB (Office of Management and Budget) Circulars impacts changes to the organization’s grant accounting requirements
  • Supports the fiscal year end close
  • Maintains accurate data in all systems regarding grant accounting as required
  • Assists with budget preparation and revisions
  • Responsible for personnel grant allocation
  • Represents the agency and finance team during external audits with grantors; communicating on a regular basis with grantors
  • Makes independent decisions on behalf of CCHC that affects the cashflow/stability of the agency
  • Supports other financial and operational requirements as needed
Min. Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred
  • 3 years of accounting and with at least 2 years of grants management experience
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Attention to detail is a must 
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment is a must 
  • Must be organized and able to multi-task 
  • Time management skills with ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical skill 
  • Strong customer service skill 
  • MIP experience a plus
