SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Shelter Program Manager, the Life Skills Coach works closely with the Case Manager, Lead RSW, and Program Manager to support client goal setting and personal growth. The Life Skills Coach will facilitate workshops/groups, identify community employment opportunities, link clients to job readiness training, vocational training and employment placement opportunities, perform housing location duties and assist with front office needs.  
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associates Degree preferred, High school diploma or equivalent with preferably 5+ years’ experience in a shelter setting or other social work experience.  Must be able to maintain confidentiality.  Must have superb engagement, listening and motivational skills.  A self-starter with the ability to work with individuals from different cultural backgrounds and multiple life experiences (homelessness, domestic violence, substance use, mental health illness). Candidate must be computer literate and demonstrate exceptional organizational, verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of Tenant’s rights.  Must be able to accomplish tasks independently and work on team projects cooperatively.  Pleasant and professional customer service attitude.  Occasional late or weekend hours may be required.  A valid driver’s license is required. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
  • Facilitate life skills workshops,
  • Conduct Housing Location activities and maintain resources
  • Connect with community service providers
  • Engage Landlords and Property Managers to build relationships for housing placement and support
  • Locate community employment opportunities
  • Facilitate and/or link to Job Readiness workshops
  • Routinely assess strengths and barriers to obtaining employment
  • Assess employment readiness
  • Develop an employment plan
  • Link clients to supportive services as necessary
  • Complete monthly reports and submit to Program Manager by due date
  • Update files to ensure record of all client level activities
  • Participate in mandatory internal and external trainings and meetings
  • Develop eviction prevention plans
  • Performs all other program support duties as assigned
