Windows and Network Systems Administrator

The Windows and Network Administrator is responsible for performing a variety of Windows desktop, Windows server, and networking tasks, including design, implementation, support, and administrative activities. This position requires excellent technical and communication skills, working closely with management, a commitment to customer service, and strong organizational skills. This position supports administrative personnel, department supervisors, staff, and customers, works directly with vendors, and requires remote support of and occasional travel to other company locations. This individual will promote a positive work environment by maintaining respectful and positive interactions with staff and others. This position requires the ability to function successfully in both team and independent work environments.

This position reports to the Network Manager.

30% - Infrastructure support
35% - Project Management (Including but not limited to: Product research/development, recommendations to management, documentation, implementation, training, follow-up with users 
           after move to production migration/upgrades capacity planning)
35% - End user support (Including but not limited to: Desktops OS and applications, mobile devices, printers, file management, e-mail, voice systems)

  • Performs a full range of system administration functions
  • Implements and supports the company’s standard application software and hardware including but not limited to:
    • Servers
    • Network equipment
      • Firewall
      • VPN

    • WAN support including vendor management for incidents

  • Documents and maintains existing centralized documentation for production systems and new technologies, and facilitates training as necessary.
  • Set up and maintain internal and external networks.
  • Implements and monitors system security measures such as backups, access control, system accounting, and disaster recovery in order to maintain systems integrity and availability.
  • Implements and supports virus detection and removal, and system recovery.
  • Provide technical support, guidance, and training to end users.
  • Researches, recommends, procures, installs, and tests hardware, software, and network configurations for PCs, servers, and appliances in order to provide information systems which effectively meets the company’s needs.
  • Implements new and supports existing Smartphones.
  • Documents work performed in and works out of a helpdesk ticketing system.
  • Maintain server log, enterprise backup and VPN reports.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • This position includes 24x7 on-call responsibilities.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5 years of experience in Server and Network support and maintenance
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft products: Active Directory, Windows Server Operating Systems (2008 / 2012), Windows Desktop (7 / 10), Microsoft Office applications (2013 / 2016), Exchange, SCCM.
  • Cisco administration (at a CCNA level) for standard core network components (switches, routers, firewalls, access points, wireless controllers, NAC)
  • Knowledge of and experience with technical and engineering support of diverse network protocols and configurations including but not limited to: TCP/IP, UDP, Qos, MPLS, MPLS-TE, OSPF, PPP, STP, SMTP, BGP, EIGRP, RIP, NetBios, SNMP, FTP, HTTP, SSH.
  • Thorough knowledge of and experience with network appliances such as VPN gateways, IPS, Firewalls, Wireless controllers and access points.
  • Working knowledge of backup methodologies and practices.

  • Experience with supporting Autodesk software.
  • Familiarity with supporting Apple desktops/laptops and mobile devices in a corporate infrastructure.
  • Certifications such as A+, Network +, Security+, Microsoft, CCNA, ITIL

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - Any Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements: 

Travel:            Ability to travel up to 15-20% in support of business needs.

Hours:             40 to 45 hours per week
