Easterseals has an opening for a Deconstruction Foreman at our Building Value Social Enterprise.
Salary range: $17.00-$20.00/hr.
Building Value is an experienced deconstruction service, we offer on-the-job training, creating a foundational employment experience for individuals seeking a career in the construction industry. Participants have the opportunity to learn skilled trades and earn industry-recognized certifications. The materials salvaged from deconstruction sites are sold to the public in the Northside retail center, creating more employment opportunities for people with disabilities and disadvantages.
As the Foreman you will start each day with a morning huddle to discuss the days’ work activities and safety plans.  Assist in coordination of equipment movement & procedures with equipment operator to ensure the safety of all associates while maximizing efficiencies. Help with development and enforcement of site safety plans and checklists. Hold Crew-lead accountable for enforcing the proper use of all necessary Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) while on site. Assist in assembling all associate timesheets and tracking hours per jobsite.
Schedule inbound trucking for materials from deconstruction sites to be transported to the retail location.
The Foreman will coordinate all phases of deconstruction with Deconstruction Manager and notify Manager of any change of scope or unforeseen circumstances. Assist Deconstruction Manager in acquiring necessary permits as well as materials needed for day-to-day operations of all deconstruction crews.
Previous Construction experience required. Salvaging old houses is the job, training individuals along the way is the goal. Must be willing to get dirty!
 
Minimum qualifications include:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of construction
  • Knowledge of basic hand tools, power tools and machine maintenance, basic math principles
  • Skid steer, telehandler, forklift experience a plus
  • Ability to perform visual and tactile inspections of available product and to make quick determinations on value, ease of sale and cost of transportation. Ability to tolerate a work environment consistent with material salvaging, deconstruction and manufacturing, including dust, extremes of heat and cold, and noise. Ability to stand, sit, reach, balance, kneel and stoop, and to lift 50 lbs. in weight, and up to 200 lbs. with assistive equipment
  • Skilled in verbal communication skills; operating general office equipment; operating job related equipment; application of job software programs; data entry; organizational skills; planning scheduling and organizing work; maintaining good public relations; problem solving; attention to detail.
