In this position you will assess the work strengths and weaknesses of individuals with disabilities in community-based work assessments to assist them with determining appropriate job goals. When not assessing participants at community employment sites, you will assist other programs such as job development, Career Choices by performing such tasks as assisting with completing online applications, performing follow up calls with the individual served and employers, etc.
As a Job Coach, you will coach individuals served in community work assessment at job site by providing orientation and training, assisting with and job related issues and demonstrating job functions. Techniques such as modeling, verbal prompting, visual prompting, etc. are used. You will help assist individuals served in completing work assignments if and when they are unable to independently perform tasks. You will encourage and assist individual served by teaching job tasks, interpersonal skills, stress management, communication skills and other job related activities. Job coaches serve as liaison for individuals served with employer, case managers, funding agency and others by facilitating communication.  You will help Identify and assist employers and consumers with implementing any needed job modification. You will provide transportation by driving individual served to and from community based work assessment sites and other activities, as needed. Job Coaches provide problem solving, mediation and advocacy by teaching consumers to communicate with supervisors and co-workers, and provide follow-along support to consumers by performing site visits and contacting employers by phone.
Job Coaches are also responsible for documentation, including completing daily assessment paperwork and meeting deadlines to get this information into the supervisor so that a comprehensive report can be written on the performance of individuals served in assessment. Documentation also includes keeping accurate records by completing and maintaining required documentation including case notes, monthly reports, intake forms, activity logs, mileage reports and discharge summaries.
In addition to these responsibilities, Job Coaches attend staffing meetings with referral sources, individual served and their support team to review progress, they communicate regularly with the Easterseals service coordinators regarding progress of the individuals served, and attend other required meetings. In this position, Job Coaches are expected to maintain confidentiality of the service record of individual served and other sensitive subject matter. Job Coaches are expected to work assigned schedules, exhibit regular and predictable attendance and work overtime as required to meet workload demands.  Performs other related duties as required.
 
Minimum qualifications include:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Flexibility with schedule and ability to work nights and weekends. The schedule varies.
  • Prior experience working with people with disabilities, preferred
  • Knowledge of interventions strategies, emotional, mental and physical disabilities
  • Ability to lift up to 25-50 lbs on occasion
  • Ability to work in various work environments 
  • Proficient in computer software, applications and programs
  • Excellent communication & problem solving skills
  • Valid driver’s license & insurance & a good driving record
