Position:  Tool Room/Press Room Supervisor

  • Supervises die makers, machinists, die repairmen, CNC programmers, tool room helpers, tool crib, tool inspectors, specialty machinists who fabricate and modify machine tooling, and production staff
  • Directs new tool build, spare component, and tool maintenance
  • Perform various administrative duties
  • Set production priorities
  • Be goal-oriented toward manufacturing cost and work center efficiency
  • Maintain efficient Tool Room operation, including training (operation of equipment; safety standards and practices)
  • Maintains interdepartmental communication and determines assignments to all personnel under his/her charge
  • Coordinates work flow
  • Assists engineering with tool design and re-design: may attend tool concept, design, release and review meetings
  • Verifies updated or revised tooling prints
  • Assists in coordinating shift transition and outside services (coatings, heat treat, subs for work overloads)
  • Coordinates with machine technicians on setup operation
  • Assigns tooling spare parts inventory work
  • Initiates ECR/Ns (Engrg.Chg.Reg. Notices) to update prints amd/or bills of material to updated prints
  • Routes Engineering Change Requests to Engineering Department: changes coming from die maker, operator, or a technician
  • Reviews all die records to anticipate developing problems and to troubleshoot, schedules and assigns all preventative maintenance for production tooling
  • Monitors raw material inventory
  • Monitor production efficiencies, downtime, and determine ways to fix the inefficiencies
  • As necessary, operates equipment and tests equipment accuracy
  • Responsible for answering quality non-conformances
