JOB SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Medical Affairs, the Nurse Manager will provide clinical support and supervision over clinical staff, supervision of the ancillary medical service providers, the maintenance of quality patient care in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and accreditation standards.

Incumbents in this job may have access to proprietary consumer or company information and must maintain the privacy and confidentiality of this information.    All employees must perform their jobs with a focus on risk management, occupational safety and health, and providing internal and external customer service.  Employees working in a supervisory capacity must practice effective human resources practices to ensure a healthy working environment.

KEY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Incumbents in the job must be able to perform the key duties and responsibilities of the job and all other duties as assigned with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Maintains sufficient, qualified staff with which to operate the unit;
  • Interact directly with patients to create treatment plans and monitor outcomes;
  • Complete research and serve as liaisons between their patients and insurance companies;
  • Responsible for the ongoing quality/performance improvement processed related to patient care;
  • Promote and support a collaborative team approach in providing care;
  • Monitor patient volumes, quality of care, and performance of staff to identify areas for improvement;
  • Budgeting the unit’s expenditures in accordance with available funds;
  • Ensuring patient issues are promptly and correctly addressed, and supervising all other routine operations of the unit, as well as any unforeseen occurrences that may arise;
  • Provide clinical support and supervision over clinical staff.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will have supervisory responsibilities over clinical support staff.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with people from culturally diverse background;
  • Knowledge of the principles and practice of preventive medicine;
  • Be able to display age-specific competency;
  • Ability to manage time well and work in a fast-past ambulatory health care environment;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
 
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing; Master's degree preferred.
  • Have a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Nurse Manager preferably in an FQHC;
  • Must be currently licensed with the New York State Board of Registered Nursing;
  • Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); PALS provider card as required by department and facility;
  • Must function according to standing orders developed in consultation with the Director of Medical Affairs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The Nurse Manager is assigned to the Health Center.  The Nurse Manager may be required to travel to other sites based on the needs of the agency.
