Job Description:  Machine Operators
Accountable To: Operations Manager
 
Primary Responsibilities:
The machine operator has the responsibility and delegated authority for specific material handling and production.  Specific quality responsibilities and authorities include the following:
  • Can operate a forklift and/or overhead crane safely, has no weight lifting restrictions. (training provided)
  • Responsible for the safe operation of machine equipment. Understands the potential pinch points and hazards of each machine when loading, processing, unloading product into a machine.  
  • Understands we have a Registered Quality Management System and our Company Quality Policy is “L&H Threaded Rod is your connection to Quality around the bend”
  • Employee understands where to find his Operating Work Instructions located and affixed to each machine and the L&H Quality Inspection Work Instruction Manual assigned to each production work area: Shearing/Cutting, Chamfering, Threading, and Bending.
  • Responsible for identifying and reporting all nonconforming material or conditions to your supervisor 
  • Responsible for recording First Piece Inspection Report (FPIR) and SPC Chart information. FPIR is used to qualify and verify your set-up is correct and product will be produced within standard tolerances. 
  • Responsible for meeting product quality requirements and production requirements defined in the work order pick list. 
  • Responsible for selecting the correct tooling for each job.
  • Responsible for maintaining housekeeping and organizing your work area..
  • Responsible for checking the work order for proper piece counts and packaging requirements.
 
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma
  • 0-6 Months Experience working in manufacturing environment
  • Strong team player
  • Read and speak English and follow instruction
  • Properly use and read a calibrated micrometer, caliper, tape measure, and length gage table to measure and inspect product
  • Understand how to clean and calibrate gages before measuring and inspecting product quality characteristics
  • Must be able to wear safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel toe safety shoes
  • Must be able to work any day of the week including Saturdays as needed
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
  • Work around oil and slick surfaces
  • Work in extreme temperatures (hot and cold)
  • Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours per day
