Position Overview
48V Applications Engineering Manger is responsible for driving the A123 48V Core designs for all markets globally.  This role will align the Application design teams to Core requirements and balancing the need to adhere to the Core architecture while permitting application flexibility.  This individual will also provide representation for Global customers whose product maturity and design process expectations are reflected through local partners.  This includes leading the re-use of Core design artifacts to accelerate technology adoption, reduce development time, increase product maturity, and lower engineering development costs.  This role will champion the bi-direction development and application of Best Practices and Lessons Learned across all 48V product development sites.  Planning and aligning the development and release milestones between Core and local applications will be required.

Primary responsibilities
  • Lead the integration of 48V Core product designs into applications for local markets (ex: NA, EU)
  • Represent the 48V Core design architecture for local 48V applications
  • Communicate the expectations of Global OEM customers for product maturity and product development process with the local 48V applications engineering team
  • Lead the re-use of Core design artifacts including DFMEAs, DV/PV test plans and results, specifications, and design documents
  • Actively align Core product development milestones with local application programs
  • Act as the primary engineering interface to local application design center
  • Interface and work with local Applications Engineering, Program Management, and Engineering Management to achieve customer program quality and timing expectations
  • Act as the Core team representative in application design reviews and consult with the local team as-needed
  • Collect customer requirements, evaluate compliance, and note areas of non-conformance and/or opportunities to drive feedback into the Core requirements and/or architecture
  • Champion the bi-directional development and application of Best Practices and Lessons Learned across all 48V product development sites
Specific Skills/Abilities
  • Expert in complex automotive product development of systems with high electrical, electronics, and software content
  • Experience leading international product development teams
  • Experience in working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Ability to react to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently
  • Flexibility during times of change.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including customer interface skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in an fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Experience with Electric Vehicles and/or low voltage electrical systems preferred
  • Experience taking products from concept to production
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.Specifically in an international product development/engineering environment.
  • BSEE and 10+ years of automotive engineering experience
  • 5+ years of automotive engineering/technical leadership experience
  • Automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier experience required.
Work Environment
  • 3+ years Fast-paced, international, technology development environment
  • Up to 20% international travel may be required
