Position Overview
The Application Engineering position acts as the primary point of contact for all customer technical questions and concerns regarding the High or Low Voltage (12V/48V) battery pack assembly and supports the sales, project management, quality and advanced manufacturing teams.
Together with a global interdisciplinary team you will drive the engineering activities and oversee the technical maturity of the product, which also includes customer interaction such as requirements alignment, status reporting and technical discussions.
In addition you will support customer activities such as initial setups for test benches and test drives, as well as coordinating change management and technical analyses (battery pack, mechanics, hardware and/or software).

Primary responsibilities
  • Actively drive projects to deadlines, esp. alignment of customer requirements and discussions about feasible realization concepts and trade-off analysis together with the project team
  • Actively drive creation of the product FMEA and validation strategy (DVP&R)
  • Release battery pack engineering documents, drawings, etc. into corporate system
  • Coordinate activities of engineering teams to resolve issues and track technical status
  • Support manufacturing plant in resolving build issues related to pack design
  • Support customer integration efforts which might include travel to customer sites
  • Up to 15% travel may be required, including some international travel
Specific Skills/Abilities
  • Experience taking products from concept to production and releasing products
  • Experience in working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Experience in creating DVP&Rs and DFMEAs
  • Solid problem solving and trouble-shooting skills and experience a plus (8D, 5-why, Ishikawa)
  • Working knowledge of engineering tools such as CANalyzer, CANoe and CAD viewers
  • Strong interpersonal, including customer interface skills
  • Experience with low voltage or high voltage battery systems is a plus
  • OEM or Tier 1 supplier experience is a plus
  • Languages: English (business fluent), German (business fluent)
  • Engineering degree (BSEE/BSME) and at least 3 years of automotive engineering experience
  • Direct exposure in product releasing and familiarity in related fields of LV and/or HV battery system is a plus
